Tiny Woven Basket Made from Ordinary Cardstock
If you love adding handmade details to your dollhouse, this tiny woven basket is a fun and inexpensive project to try. Made from ordinary cardstock, a little glue, and a few simple supplies, this miniature basket has the look of a traditional woven market basket and is perfectly sized for a 1:12 scale dollhouse. Fill it with flowers, vegetables, sewing supplies, yarn, books, or other miniature treasures to add charm and realism to your scenes.
One of the best things about this project is that it uses basic materials that most crafters already have on hand. The weaving technique creates a realistic basket texture, while the optional wire handle gives it even more character. Once completed, the basket can be painted, stained, or antiqued to match the style of your dollhouse.
Materials
* Cardstock
* Elmer's Glue-All
* 18-gauge wire (optional handle)
* Paint or stain (optional)
Measurements
* 1 strip – 3 3/8 inches x 5/8 inch
* 4 strips – 4 inches x 1/8 inch (one extra just in case!)
* 4 circles – 1 inch diameter
* 1 strip – 4 inches x 1/4 inch (optional handle – cut extra if desired)
Making the Handle
For the wire handle, bend a piece of 18-gauge wire into the desired handle shape. To create the wooden grip, cut a narrow strip of paper to your preferred width and wrap it around the wire, applying glue as you go. Continue wrapping until the handle reaches the thickness you like. Once dry, paint it to resemble wood for a realistic finishing touch.
Perfect for 1:12 Scale
This miniature basket is ideal for 1:12 scale dollhouses and can be displayed in kitchens, gardens, market scenes, sewing rooms, entryways, and more. It's a wonderful way to add handcrafted character to your miniature world while using simple, affordable materials.
Whether you make one basket or a whole collection in different sizes, these tiny woven baskets are a delightful addition to any dollhouse and a rewarding project for miniature enthusiasts.
